When was your first run with YRC? How did you hear about it?

I remember it was at 3ROC and I didn't know a soul. At the end of the run, someone proposed getting hot dogs from D's, and I knew I found my people.

What does being a "local, lovable misfit runner" mean to you?

Being a “local, lovable misfit runner” is the shorthand way of saying you’re invested in being a member of our community of folks who care and respect one another, our fellow runners, and our running environments. AND WE DON’T TAKE ANY BS ABOUT THAT! We are so fortunate to have running as the excuse we have to be together. We’ve got to maintain these spaces of trust where people can feel safe to explore and grow in our identities as athletes and beyond.

What keeps you coming back to YRC/running in general?

As times continue to grow more uncertain, I feel revitalized in my efforts to maintain a space for myself to challenge myself, feel strong, and be grateful for the things I am able to experience. Running gives me that outlet. YRC gives me friends and mentors and people to admire and aspire to be like - and then we get to run together every week. That's wild.

What are your non-running hobbies?

Taking in a good book, watching UNC basketball, baking breads and sweet treats, cuddling my cat
