Yinz Run Club started with a simple idea: bring people together through movement.

What began as five strangers joining together for a run has become a thriving community of runners and walkers who take to the streets and trails of Pittsburgh every week.

YRC ToDay

Since then, dozens—now hundreds—of runners and walkers have joined our community. As the community grew, so did the team responsible for making it all happen. Our volunteer staff, pacers, sweepers, photographers, and more have come together with the same enthusiasm as day one to create a space where everyone is welcome and every step is celebrated.

Today, Yinz Run Club is home to all misfit runners. Whether you’ve run 28 marathons or are planning to start walking this year, all yinz are welcome. Bring your full self, sign the waiver, and share some miles with hundreds of your newest friends.

The Beginning

In July of 2021, Founder and President Daniel Lampmann gathered a small group of friends to explore the Highland Park Reservoir. Out of the nine people who said they were interested, five showed up. No one knew each other, and everyone brought their own history with running. Through a combination of energetic traditions and celebratory enthusiasm, these first five runners shared three miles and plenty of laughs together. From that day onward, YRC never stopped.

Vision

We envision a running culture where movement is accessible to all, friendships form through every mile, and the joy of running strengthens the fabric of our city.

Values

Caring, a lot. We care deeply about each other, our city, our partners, and the spaces we run. That care shows up in how we show up — intentionally and respectfully.

Welcoming everyone. We’re committed to creating an environment where everyone feels supported and valued, regardless of experience, identity, or background.

Making running (more) fun. Running doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful. We’re here to cheer, celebrate, and make movement joyful for all.
